Donnerstag, der 5.Februar 2009 - der Tag des Starts des Filmfestivals Berlinale und wieder so ein Tag, wo es wie immer zu befürchten gilt, dass das volle UFO-Programm auf einem zukommt. Die nächste abenteuerliche UFO-Episode also...

Fangen wir doch mal im fernen argentinischen Rosario an, wo in der Nacht vom 30. auf den 31.Januar 2009 dieses hellweiße, sternartige Objekt (der prächtige Sirius beherrschte da gerade und zufälligerweise dominierend den dortigen Himmel, halbhoch und ging die nächsten Stunden unter) verwackelt halbhoch am Himmel aufgenommen wurde und ab und an, "Laserstrahlen" (deswegen heißt der Film auch ´UFO Fires Beams Over Alto Rosario, Argentina January 30 2009´) als CCD-Übersättigunsgeffekte der Kamera kerzengerade zu Boden schickte während es verwackelt mit handgehaltener Kamera aufgenommen wurde: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujZx... .

Es passiert über ihren Köpfen...

Kurz vor Mittag nahm ich diese eMail-Nachricht von Guido Alexander W. aus Schorndorf-Weiler, ca 25 Km östlich von Stuttgart, entgegen:

"Gestern Abend macht mich meine Mutter auf eine Lichterscheinung direkt über dem Haus aufmerksam. Anbei die 2 Orginal-Photos die ich mit meiner Digital Kamera gemacht habe. Leider ist sie für Nachtaufnahmen nicht geeignet. Eines mit 10 fachem-Zoom eines Normalsicht. Zuerst dachte ich an ein hoch-fliegendes Flugzeug das brennt. Es war wie Feuer Orange-Farben und in der Größe ungefähr ein Fünftel des Mondes zu dieser Zeit. Es ist scheinbar über dem Haus gestanden. Und ca 1 Minute nach den Aufnahmen ist es mit leichter Versetzung Richtung Norden schlagartig kleiner geworden und ganz verschwunden. Da ich viele Bilder mache, tagsüber von Flugzeugen die nach Stuttgart (Flughafen) fliegen zum Landen, denke ich schon, das ich ein gewisses ´Gespür´ für die Höhe habe und ich bin weit davon entfernt an ausserirdische Besucher oder so zu glauben. Da ja UFO nichts anderes heißt als ein Flugobjekt das man nicht zuordnen kann."

Nachsatz WW: Die beiden Bilder zeigten a) verwackelt eine ´schöne´ gelb-rote Schnörgelspur und b) ein leicht verwackelte orange-gelb-rote ´Lichtkugel´ (ziemlich ähnlich wie der UFO-SUN-Grafik, siehe Bild). Also alles wie gehabt für eine nette Himmelslaterne. Aber später schickte mir der Melder ein durchaus umwerfendes, ´beeindruckendes Gegenargument´ zu: "Komisch ist nur, das ich in einem reinen Wohngebiet lebe, wo überwiegend alte Leute leben..."

Um etwa 17:30 h meldete sich ein namenloser Herr aus Crailsheim, der den gestrigen Venus-UFO-Bericht in der ´Südwest-Presse´ gelesen hatte und genau 24 Stunden zuvor selbst ein UFO hoch am Süd-West-Himmel plötzlich auftauchen sah, es sah aus wie ein heller Lichtpunkt, den er dann mit einem herbeigeholten Feldstecher beobachtete, wodurch er verschiedene Farben daran ausmachen konnte - und nach weiteren 3 Minuten sei das Objekt dann blitzschnell nach NO davongeschoßen, um zu verschwinden. Die Venus dagegen hat er nicht gesehen gehabt, obwohl die doch genau zu dieser Uhrzeit hoch oben am Südwesthimmel auftaucht. Dann wollte der Herr grundsätzlich mit mir über "Leben da draußen" debattieren, worauf ich mich aber im Fallzusammenhang nicht einließ, warum auch? Ich riet dem Melder an, sich mit seiner Zeitung in Verbindung zu setzen, da die Wahrscheinlich doch gut stand, dass dieses Ereignis - wenn so wie geschildert es stattfand und er mir nicht einfach nur eine Story mit Ausgangspunkt Venus mit SF-Elementen andichten sollte, um eine "echte UFO-Bestätigung" zu erhalten damit ich von Aliens überzeugt bin - auch von anderen Leuten gesehen sein sollte, weil dies - so wie geschildert, sehr auffällig sein muss. Er wolle dies angeblich am Freitag auch tun... - schien aber gleichzeitig recht enttäuscht zu sein, dass ich mich erst gar nicht auf die Alien-Debatte mit ihm aufgrund seiner Sichtung einließ. Was ich übrigend grundsätzlich nicht tue, um den Leuten da nichts hintenrum interpretierbar in dieser Richtung etwas einzureden. Schließlich hat man als UFO-Phänomen-Untersucher auch Verantwortung zu tragen.

Um kurz nach 18:30 h rief Frau Tamara U. aus Bad Liebenstein an, weil sie "schon wieder das helle Ding der unerklärlichen Natur" hoch oben gegen Westen hin nun schon wieder seit etwa 18 h beobachte. "Schon wieder" bedeutet in dem Fall, seit Dezember hat sie dies immer wieder mal gesehen - vielleicht jetzt zum 20 x. Es ist immer das selbe "helle Ding" was hoch am Himmel zu jener Zeit erscheint (im Dezember eine Stunde früher) und immer ein bis zwei Stunden zu sehen ist, bevor es gegen Westen hin niedergehend verschwindet. Seit ein paar Tagen hatte sie meine Rufnummer, aber nicht den Mut gehabt dies zu melden - aber als es jetzt wieder auftauchte und es nach wie vor zu sehen war und es auch ihr Nachbar bestätigte, der neben ihr stand, da sie ihn heute zufällig auf dem nach Hauseweg vom Einkaufen traff und er es damit als Zeuge gleichsam beobachten konnte, nahm sie sich zusammen und rief jetzt an. Dass das die Venus ist, darauf war Frau U. bisher nicht gekommen, "weil wenn man es sieht dankt man an alles mögliche, nur nicht daran..." Auch ein ´Venus-UFO-Effekt im Kopf´ in diesen Tagen.

Nebenbei: Da ich an diesem Abend auch mit Frau Prof.Dr.Susanne Hüttemeister vom Planetarium Bochum einen Pressetext zu meinem dortigen Vortrag am 18.Februar 09 (Sie wissen ja Bescheid) besprach kam nebenbei auch heraus, dass das Planetrium mindetens 2 UFO-Meldungen wegen der Venus pro Tag erhält - und dies schon seit vielen Wochen.

Klar, UFOs über England und die ufologisierte SUN... - Heijeijei...

Die ufologisierte SUN ( http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag... ) heizte mal wieder und setzte voll auf ´Akte X´, als es darum ging die von der SUN selbst inszenierte UFO-Welle durch meistens nicht-erkannte Skylanterns nochmals zu verschärfen und als Mystery im ufologischen Kampagnen-Journalismus betreffs den ´elastischen´ Thema zu zementieren, auch wenn dies für seriöse UFO-Phänomen-Erforscher eine aufreibende Nervenprobe darstellt:

The mystery object was seen from the House of Commons as the number sighted in our skies during 2008 more than doubled {hierzulande gab es beim deutschen Verteidungsministerium deswegen keinen Schock, aber bei uns UFO-Phänomen-Erforschern wie CENAP/GEP den pure UFO-Horror, nachdem schon 2007 alle Barrieren im UFO-Meldeaufkommen wegen den von Zeugen nicht-erkannten IFOs und von uns als Himmelslaternen identifizierten UFOs gesprengt worden waren}.

Sightings ... across the UK: Among the 285 UFO incidents logged by the MoD was one spotted on New Year´s Eve by an Essex policemen. And last March a witness reported seeing a saucer-shaped craft 20 times the size of a plane. UFO experts were last night stunned as the sightings were officially revealed in graphic detail for the first time -- following a string of exclusives about them in The Sun. Only weeks ago we told how one UFO was feared to have pranged a giant wind turbine. Nick Pope, who has investigated UFOs for the MoD, said: "The House of Commons incident is most interesting. Although the colour of the lights are what are normally associated with aircraft, you would have thought they would know the difference in Parliament. And the incident reported by the police officer is intriguing because of his occupation."

Mysteries ... TV X Files´ Mulder and Scully

Last year´s sightings would have been more than enough to keep TV´s X Files investigators Mulder and Scully busy. Nick echoed the show´s slogan -- "The truth is out there" -- as he said: "UFOs are being seen by people up and down the length and breadth of the country. There are a considerable number of sightings of solid structures, behaving in a way unlike conventional aircraft or helicopters." The unnamed cop had his close encounter in Brightlingsea, Essex. He reported: "Bright orange/yellow light in the sky. Quite large, 1500-2000ft up. Moved very slowly in a half circle then stopped over the water between Brightlingsea & East Mersea. Shot straight up and disappeared very fast."

The report of the House of Commons sighting -- on February 12 -- reveals: "There was a craft that had green, red and white lights. It was still and static in the sky. It was seen for about an hour and a half." {Soweit ich mich zu dieser SUN-Geschichte erinnere, war dies doch ein defokusssiert aufgenommener Sirius!} Wiltshire was among the nation´s UFO hotspots. In Ashton Keynes -- just a few miles from the new home of UFO fanatic Robbie Williams -- a witness saw one three days before the object that buzzed Parliament. The dossier says: "There were ten to twenty bright orange lights that were manoeuvring across the sky. They were moving quite slowly." A "huge disc-shaped object twenty times the size of an aeroplane" was seen at Rainham, Kent, on March 28. The report adds: "It had five or six flashing lights on the underneath in a circular shape."

Dates: A "jumbo jet sized object" seen over Leeds in February was described as "flat and round, with a blue rippled underside." A June report from Bristol says: "A big alien craft landed on the top of the witness´s house. The craft then flew off over Bristol." Two months later a silent V-formation of 59 lights was reported above Lewes, East Sussex. Nick, who worked in the MoD´s UFO unit for three years, said: "There are a couple of dates with numerous sightings. For example on June 12 there were six separate ones all over the country. The same thing happens the following month on July 27 {klar, genauso wie hierzulande des Hightlight-Nächte wegen den Himmelslaternen gab}."<

Und der ´Telegraph´, artig wie er ist, zog gleich nach ´UFO spotted opposite Houses of Parliament´ ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new... ). Auch die ´Daily Mail´ ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art... ) griff die Story mit der Headline "The truth is out there: UFO sightings ´double in one year´" auf. Klar haben sich die Sichtungen in England mindstens mehr als verdoppelt, ist ja bei uns auch nicht anders - und es wird wohl weitergehen. Weiß der Geier, was da zum Valentinstag am 14.Februar nach diesem irren Silvester vor 5 Wochen noch auf uns zukommen wird.

Und schwupps, tauchte diese Geschichte am späten Nachmittag auch im deutsprachigen Raum bei oe24.at ( http://www.oe24.at/welt/weltchronik... ) auf:

Wieder hat das britische Verteidigungsministerium UFO-Akten veröffentlicht, alle aus dem Jahre 2008. Penibel sind in der Liste Sichtungsdaten und eine kurze Beschreibung der Zeugenschilderungen zu finden. Während einige Fälle lediglich als "etwas Seltsames am Himmel" beschrieben wurden, werden andere Sichtungsberichte erstaunlich konkret:

So sorgte im letzten Jahr vor allem ein UFO für Aufsehen, das gegenüber des englischen Parlamentsgebäudes in London am 12. Februar 2008 beobachtet und dem Ministerium gemeldet wurde. Zusammenfassend heißt es zur Schilderung des Zeugens: "Da war ein Fluggerät mit grünen, roten und weißen Lichtern, das für mehr als eineinhalb Stunden lang still am Himmel stand." Am 8. September 2008 wurde ein "schwarzes Objekt von der Form einer Kaugummipackung mit drei weißen kreisrunden Lichtern an der Unterseite" über Blackpool beobachtet, das ein dumpfes und orangefarbenes Licht abstrahlte und geschätzte 50 mal 15 Meter groß gewesen sei.

Mit 285 gelisteten Sichtungen lag die Zahl der gemeldeten UFO-Beobachtungen 2008 mehr als doppelt so hoch wie noch 2007, als 135 Fälle dokumentiert wurden. 2006 wurden lediglich 97 UFO-Sichtungen registriert. Die Zunahme wird nicht nur von Kritikern, sondern auch von UFO-Forschern teilweise mit der zunehmenden Beliebtheit asiatischer Himmelslaternen erklärt.<

Die SUN-Geschichte schien wie ein Startschuss für die Brit-Press gewesen zu sein...

´UFO sightings above North Yorkshire town´ hieß die Headline bei der ´Darlington & Stockton Times´ ( http://www.darlingtonandstocktontim... ) hierfür:

>A shock Ministry of Defence UFO file reveals that a North Yorkshire town was a hot-spot for alien visitors in 2008. A mysterious flying object was seen five times in the skies above Scarborough from early July until the end of August last year. The sightings above the coastal town, and one above nearby Malton, were six of the UFO incidents out of 285 logged by the MoD in 2008. A cork shaped object that glowed like an angel and flew over trees was seen in Scarborough on July 11 at 11.30pm. Then just 24 hours later at 11.52pm on July 12 a white pea pod shaped object was seen in the skies above Scarborough.

A new UFO was spotted over Scarborough at 2.14am on July 14 when a fiery star shape was seen flying before disappearing. Then at 11.55am on August 29 a black rectangular object was seen that wobbled in the sky before moving out of sight over Scarborough. This was followed at 11pm on August 30 by an orange circular object spotted flying above the town. Finally in North Yorkshire circles of white lights with fire inside each of them were seen above Malton at 10.55pm on September 20. They were described as being like hang-gliders but totally silent and they were in formation with the last object having a red light {durchweg alles Himmelslaternen als nicht erkannte IFOs, weil die Presse dies so zurechtgezüchtet und gedüngt hat}.

The MoD dossier is available to view on-line via www.mod.uk and it contains UFO sightings from the length and breadth of the UK. It includes a craft with green, red and white lights which was seen hovering statically above the Houses of Parliament for one and a half hours on February 12.<

Der ´Streatham Guardian´ ( http://www.streathamguardian.co.uk/... ) setzte die Headline ´MoD investigates {?} Lambeth UFO sighting´ hierzu auf:

> A UFO seen in the skies over Lambeth last year was investigated by the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The unexplained sighting is in an MOD dossier of 265 UFO related incidents reported to the Government department last year. The incident, logged on July 10, involved "a stationary bright, white light in the sky, lower than the stars with a multi coloured pulsating light. Three smaller, dark objects then entered into the white light," according to the report.

An MOD spokesperson said the sighting was investigated to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. "Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported," she added. The dossier was released on Monday through a Freedom of Information request.

Wichtige Nachbetrachtung WW:

Dies sind keine untersuchten und fachqualifiziert bewerteten Fälle/Meldungen im ufoforscherischen Sinne, sondern ungefragt in verschiedener Form eingereichte UFO-Meldungen, die eben behördenmäßig registriert/gesammelt wurden und sobald es keine nationale Luftraumbedrohungen deswegen gab, werden sie abgelegt. WAS der wahre Sichtungs-Anlass der Meldungen war wurde nicht erforscht und auch nicht weiter diesbezüglich nachgefragt! Weshalb auch? London und sonstigen Städte der britischen Nation sind ja nicht attackiert worden und dem Boden plattgemacht, als die Meldung vielleicht Wochen danach von einer UFO-Sichtung einging. Woraus sich schon von selbst ergibt, dass es keine folgenschwere Luftraumbedrohung gab! Und ob die eingereichten UFO-Geschichten alle so der Wirklichkeit entsprechen und nicht abenteuerliche, pure Kopfgeburten der Einreicher sind ist auch nicht durch die Sammlung des Materials gesagt. Selbst der in letzter Zeit durch das letzte freigegebene, historische britische UFO-Akten-Paket bekanntgewordene ´Fall´ Milton Torres muss einfach so gesehen werden, was er ist: Einfach nur ein Brief aus dem Jahr 1980 mit seinem vermeintlichen "UFO-Abschußversuch" in den 1950er Jahren - und es gibt einfach keine originale eigene Fallakte der britischen Behörden von damals dazu! Die Geschichte ist nichts anderes als eine Anekdote, so wie wir UFO-Forscher es alle kennen, Stories mit dem Ruch von "Es war einmal.. - angeblich"! Die UFO-Forschung muss sich von den alten (veralteten) Vorstellungen aus der ´Tradi´-Szene lösen und sich den neuen Gegebenheiten unter den Erkenntissen der bisher UFO-´Erfahrung´ aus der Forschung endlich konsequent stellen. Die UFO-Forschung ist nicht unfehlbar und muss sich auch auch unbequemen Erkenntnissen anpassen - aber genau dies geschieht eben nicht wie bei einer ufoforscherischen ´Pius-Bruderschaft´, auch wenn es tricktechnisch in der Rhetorik versucht wird anders ausschauen zu lassen, was aber nur leicht-durchschaubare neoliberale Schönfärberei für jeden echten und ehrlichen Sachverständigen ist. Darum kommen wir nicht herum, oder guckt einfach weg, dann sieht man das Problem mit dem Taschenspielertrick erst gar nicht. Shit Happens..., wie man gerade im Vatikan sehen kann. Aber man muss dabei auch den nüchern Papst sehen: schlußendlich ist auch er nur ein Interessenvertreter. Da fällt mir gerade ein schönes Symboldbild ein: Die UFO-Forschrungsgruppen sind in ihrer äußeren Verkaufe zuviel ´Ratzinger´, als ´Voltaire´ - auch wenn sie sich so zur Täuschung und zur affirmativen Schleimerei verkaufen mögen. Diesen Ballast - kann man auch ´Wunsch als Vater des Gedankens´ nennen, da bin ich einfach mal a) schismatisch und b) unbarmherzig - kann sie auch nicht abwerfen, sonst rennen die Mitglieder reihenweise davon...

Zurück zum Ausgangs-Thema, obwohl ich es im Gesamtblick nicht wirklich verlassen habe: Selbst in ´frischer Form´ gibt es solche ´Luftwaffen´-Geschichten, siehe so auch unseren aktuellsten Fall aus dieser Reihe: http://cenap.alien.de/cenapnews/zei... . Dies gibt es genauso wie ´kuriose´, um den Begriff verrückte Geschichten über Alien-Begegnungen zu vermeiden, Erzählungen so wie sie in der Eso-UFOlogie Alltag sind - und die selbstverständlich auch UFO-Forschungsgruppen erreichen, um (hoffentlich!) unter dem Label ´psychologisch´ bewertet werden und so in der Statistik berechtigt auftauchen. Dies alles muss man dringend wissen und verstehen, dass das so gesehen für die UFO-Forschung ziemlich wertloses Material ist, solange niemand mit entsprechender Fachkenntnis den einzelnen Meldungen nachgeht! Kurzum: Jeder mit seinen ganz persönlichen Motiven kann also seine Absonderungen einreichen, so wie wir es alle kennen. Und im Grunde genommen ist dies in England sogar recht ´gefahrlos´ möglich, um davon auszugehen, um im Jahr darauf mit seiner SF-nahen Geschichte - aufgrund der ´Akten´-Freigabe - durch die Hintertüre seine "15 Minuten" mit dem MoD-Stempel abzubekommen! Dies öffnet doch Tür und Tor für alle Spinner, die es zweifelsfrei überall gibt - vom magischem Magneteffekt des utopischen und wahrhaft inspirierenden ´Fliegenden Untertassen´-Mythos auf alle Spinner aus allen Irrwitz-Fraktionen - sie nutzen ihn eindeutig als Sprachrohr für sich als der der Verlierer, um sich zumindest intern in einer psychosozialen Funktion unter Gleichgesinnten ´stark´ fühlen zu dürfen (deswegen gibt es auch den Kontaktler-Kult wie um Meier oder Rael noch heutzutage) - des Globus mal ganz zu schweigen. So war es rund um den Planeten schon immer seit des die Untertassen-Mär mit ihren Kontaktler-Ausartungen etc pp gibt. Und dazu muss sich klar und deutlich jede ernsthafte UFO-Vereinigung verhalten, frei nach dem Slogan: Spinnkram ist und bleibt Spinnkram. Es kann doch gar kein Problem sein, aber es ist es doch, weil es nicht deutlich geschieht! Diese ´Freedom of Information Act´ ist also ziemlich zweischneidig! Aus diesem Schneider kommt die britische Krone jetzt nimmer raus. Dies sind also die negativen Seiten der Demokratie und der Offenheit.

"UFO´s spotted over Barrhead" hieß es beim ´Paisley Daily Express´ ( http://www.paisleydailyexpress.co.u... ) dazu:

>Those spooky unidentified flying objects are at it again - this time in Barrhead! The Paisley Daily Express has already revealed how eagle-eyed believers have reported two separate UFO sightings - one in Elderslie and another in Renfrew. Now every Buddie´s favourite newspaper can reveal that a report has been posted on a top UFO-spotting website detailing a sighting in Barrhead. The shocked eyewitness told the UK UFO website: "When I was out in the garden, I could see two luminous blue objects from a distance. They flew overhead silently and at speed. As they flew above me, I could see the bottom of the UFO, which looked like it was in segments and they were a very bright blue colour. As they passed, the nearest UFO was of a luminous red colour as if it had changed its colour. They were both too fast and too silent to be planes or helicopters." The sighting is the only one on this website from the Paisley area.

Previous sightings in Elderslie and Renfrew were posted on the Canada-based HBCC UFO Research website. In Elderslie, a couple saw two strange objects flying high in the sky near to Glasgow Airport. One of the believers told the website: "We saw the orange objects quite far apart outside the front of my home and went to the back of the house to watch them. They were about a mile from Glasgow Airport and we were able to observe planes arriving and taking off from the airport at the same time but these two objects were much higher and moving quite slow. These did not have landing lights on them, just an orange glow." And, in Renfrew, two UFOs were spotted close to the town´s police station. A man who reported the sighting said: "At first, I thought they were helicopters but there was no noise and they emitted a bright, almost off-white light. They didn´t move and, when the bus came, I kept looking at them. The bus travelled for about four miles and they stayed in the same place. The height must have been about 200 feet and, as it was a clear, cold night, the stars were visible but these lights were an awful lot closer to the ground."

UFO expert Brian Vike is urging Buddies to be on the alert amid suggestions that aliens could be keeping an eye on Paisley and neighbouring towns and villages. Brian, who is director of the HBCC UFO Research organisation, told the Express that sightings of unidentified flying objects are becoming more common in Renfrewshire. And he believes the truth is out there. Brian said: "There are still many people who do not have the use of a computer to search for a UFO investigator. A lot of times, people will see something odd and keep it to themselves or maybe talk about it with their families and we miss this valuable information."<

´Sceptic baffled by bright lights above Nerston´ hieß es bei den ´East Kilbridge News´ ( http://www.eastkilbridenews.co.uk/l... ) dazu:

>An East Mains man thought his eyes were deceiving him when he saw orange lights floating through the sky on Saturday night. The father-of-one, who asked not to be identified, was looking out of his living room window in the direction of Nerston when he spotted two glowing blobs which he says were hovering over the town. At first he thought it was an aeroplane but when the lights began moving apart the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. He called on his wife who reassured him he wasn´t going mad and then to add to their confusion another three orange lights appeared on the scene. The couple watched in utter disbelief for several minutes before the unusual lights disappeared over the horizon.

He said: "I´m a total sceptic. I don´t believe in ghosts, ghouls, UFOs, or anything like that but I have no idea what these lights were. The man said he tried to take a picture and a video on his camera phone but the quality was very poor and nothing shows up in the images. There are many reports throughout the course of a year of people throughout the United K ingdom seeing orange lights in the sky. Experts believe that the most plausible explanation is that they are traditional Chinese sky lanterns. There is also the fact that Chinese New Year took place on Thursday, January 26, just a few days before the couple spotted the lights over Nerston. Sky Lanterns, also known as Khoom Fay, are used during the Chinese Lantern Festival in Taiwan. However, they have become increasingly popular to mark festivals and celebrations in Western society such as weddings and birthdays. They date back hundreds of years, when armies employed them as signalling devices. The lanterns later were adopted by common people, who used them to convey their wishes to heaven. The sky lanterns can rise as high as 1250 metres, and can also travel vast distances and a result are often mistaken for UFO´s.

A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman told the News this week "The MoD examines reports of such sightings solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported."

The sighting is similar to one reported in the Mail in February 2007, when reader Kay Knight told us how she saw three yellowish lights moving soundlessly across the night sky between East Farndon and Harborough. The objects were later revealed to be Chinese lanterns, set off from a garden in Lubenham Hill as part of birthday celebrations.

A helicopter was flying at the side, you could see it and hear it clearly, but you could not hear anything else. When they had gone there was an eerie silence. We all stood there watching. It was amazing. I do believe there is something out there. It was completely out of this world. It´s not every day you see something as weird as that."

Moments later another eye-witness saw the same ten lights, followed by a helicopter, above the Whitley area of the city. The man, who didn´t want to be named, said: "My mum first saw two bright lights. She called me through and we went into the back garden and saw the other eight following in a straight line a good few hundred feet apart. They just sat there hovering for a few seconds before disappearing." The same 10 lights were seen four days before lorry driver Adam Neale, 33, saw two orange lights flying above his uncle´s house in Cannon Park.

Sceptics say the bright lights could simply be lanterns released to celebrate Chinese new year.<

She said explanations such as Chinese lanterns, ice crystals or aircrafts didn´t add up. "It was really weird - if it was an ice crystal, why didn´t it hit the ground?" she said. The woman and three other family members all saw the weird object. "It was just floating about above the house and there was no noise," she said. "It wasn´t scary. It was quite lovely to look at actually - it was very bright. "Small round shapes came off the big one and were just hovering about. Then it went into one and took off into the sky."

In September, Richard Ing, 40, of Westminster Avenue, Clayton, said he watched from the balcony of his house as a UFO passed over Bradford city centre, Clayton and off towards Denholme. In another sighting just after midnight on New Year´s Eve, Clare Harris, 30, and four friends spotted a flickering ball moving slowly across the sky above Low Moor. Asked why he thought the aliens had returned following the latest sighting on Wednesday night, Mr Brown said: "They are probably just observing us to learn about our culture." Laura added: "I do believe there is more than just us here. Just as long as they leave me alone, I´m alright."

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the force had received no other reports of UFO sightings in the North Bradford division on Wednesday night.<

But, she said several people and students at the high school saw it, and heard from police that the lights had been seen elsewhere in the township. "They were stationary, and they were strange, but I wouldn´t say I was scared," she said. "We don´t know if it was a hoax, but I don´t think it was a plane. All the planes in the area were flying lower than they were."

On Friday, Police Lt. Don Smith confirmed "numerous calls" had been placed to the police about the unidentified lights, but that officials "still had no idea what it was." The sightings were first reported near Morristown Airport early last month. And, those in the Morristown area reported seeing them again on Thursday, Jan. 29. At that time, Warnock Ford employees in Morristown reported seeing the lights at about 8 p.m. At the time of the original report, Morristown Police said they appeared to be a hoax composed of road flares suspended from balloons. But no one knows for sure. No balloons or flares have ever been found.

The new theory is they might be "sky lanterns," balloons powered by lighting wax-infused cloth manufactured by, among others, Skylantern.com in Michigan. They are capable of reaching an elevation of about one mile and traveling for up to 10 miles. Todd Schlosser, owner of Skylantern.com in Michigan, has said he had seen videos posted on YouTube of the red lights in New Jersey several weeks ago and was convinced they were his and not extraterrestrial. The $2 sky lanterns are used for celebrations such as weddings and church events and cost about $2 apiece. Schlosser was reported as saying sky lanterns can stay in formation if they are launched at the same time and are in the same air current. He also said they have been known to create UFO sightings. But there is still no direct evidence saying what the lights are.<
