UFO-Loser-Uri: Pro7-Show Es musste ja mal so kommen: Skylanterns in England immer öfters als UFO-Stimulus durchschaut!
): >UFO Scare in Germany Just Hot Air - Germany´s UFO hotline has been inundated with thousands of calls from people who have mistaken glowing lights in the nighttime sky for alien space objects. The red-gold lights were in fact balloons that have become the latest festive season fad, according to Werner Walter of the Central Research Network for Unusual Sky Phenomena (CENAP). The sightings were "nothing but hot air," said the UFO expert, referring to the sky lanterns which have been sold for the first time at Christmas markets and garden centres across the country. The miniature hot-air balloons, nothing more than a paper lantern suspended over a naked flame, provided "a silent alternative" to the traditional fireworks let off to mark the start of the New Year.<
. Was sagt man dazu? - mit dem Beitrag "UFO sighting video sparks similar reports from Scottish viewers: Reports of an apparent UFO sighting in central Scotland have sparked a huge reponse from stv viewers keen to report similar unexplained phenomena" aufruf- und erreichbar:
>Reports of an apparent UFO sighting in central Scotland have sparked a huge reponse from stv viewers keen to report similar unexplained phenomena. Video of unexplained lights in the sky was submitted by Neil Hewitt from Banknock, and it attracted an unprecedented level of interest on the stv website. The footage amidst a wave of similar sightings across the UK, and a suggestion that a wind turbine in Lincolnshire was badly damaged in an incident with a mystery aircraft. In Shetland, an stv cameraman reported seeing exactly the same kind of lights on New Year´s day in Lerwick. Viewers from across Scotland reported seeing similar things over the festive period. Many of these were on Christmas Eve. One viewer sent a picture (shown here) of what he describes as "UFO lights on Xmas Eve at Hatton near Peterhead" He says they were "Silent and about six of them all together." Another viewer reported something on the same night, saying: "Saw light on Xmas Eve over Edinburgh sky. Kids out in the drive playing ran in as they thought it was Santa." There were other reports from the same night. One said: "I saw the light it was bright orange over Addiewell on Chrismas Eve at 5.40pm, I was in the garden." A viewer from Larkhall said: "On November fifth lights were seen by me, daughter, son in law and a friend´s husband. It flew from east to west in a straight line. Again, seen by daughter and son in law on December 25." May of the reports centred around New Year´s Eve. Sandra Smith sent in a text saying: "Me my husband and my son saw three of these flying objects in Cowdenbeath straight after the bells at the new year." Hellen Boyle in Alloa said: "We seen the same light in the sky over Alloa, just after the bells at new year." Another viewer contacted us saying: "I saw the same at 01.30 new year´s morning in the Whitecrook, Clydebank area." A viewer called Rachel said she "saw same orange UFO on Isle of Colonsay on New Year´s Eve." One text said: "My family and me saw similar light on Hogmanay in Cardonald", and another said: "Saw one bright light at 3am new year´s morning in Aberdeen. Thought it was a star but moving too much." Other locations are mentioned in texts sent in describing reports from other dates. One viewer said: "I see the object as I was working in Aberdeen docks last year. It was red with a yellow core", another said: "I saw a bright orange T-shaped object at 6.30pm January the second over Kirriemuir." A text from Susan Faith commented: "Eight friends and myself saw three strange yellow lights in the sky in August last year. There was one then three. We stood up and watched as they went above each other then the bottom two went up quickly to the one at the top then they vanished! We thought at first they were aircraft but they had no red lights and made no sound. We were all amazed." A firefighter and three friends witnessed something similar to the stv footage, saying it was "Just above our cars on way home from the Lake of Menteith at approximately 6.30pm, 2/11/08." Another said: "I saw three lights in the sky on Saturday night about 9pm, I stay in Motherwell." Similarly, another reported: "I saw three lights red trimmed with white that was last week over Cumnock, Ayrshire." Further afield, one said: "We´re from Greenock and we seen it in Coventry visiting friends on New Year´s Eve after the bells, about 12.15am." Another viewer contacted us by text, saying: "Seen your Coverage of UFOs. I have better film of one taken on holiday. (Santa Ponsa. Majorca) A few years ago In broad Daylight." Some viewers contacted us with possible explanations to the apparent sightings. Betty Kelly from Carntyne in Glasgow asked: "I saw this very bright star like light as well, on Monday evening, and again on Tuesday but in Crookston and Carntyne. I thought we were getting another view of Mars. Is this the case?" Another suggested: "The sightings of UFOs in Scotland could be a Chinese lanterns. I saw people set some of at New Year. They looked like UFOs to me but my mate seen them closer." Others made the same suggestion, saying: "We had a lantern that had a little fire under it and we were amazed how high and far they went. I think that´s what there people were seeing they are popular at Christmas and New Year." "The mysterious looking things seen in the skies are just lanterns, I watched at Bridge of Dee as they were let go over the river", said another viewer. A third explained: "To all the people thinking they have saw UFOs it was large lanterns that were lit from Larkhall area these looked the same as the aliens." But some of the reports do not seem to fit this explanation. Amanda from Thurso in Caithness said: "Me an my auntie from Thurso Caithness saw a orange light in the sky on new years night it moved across the sky slowly then stopped and shot straight up an vanished." Another text said: "We went out on new years day and watched three objects in the sky my daughter took a photo when we checked the photo it was like a big round dark object we could not explain it and are not into UFOs." One viewer´s report said: "Spotted UFO sighting in Tarbert, Argyll on Tuesday night! (January sixth) Down low to the ground then rose up and travelled about 200 yards, and disappeared!" Asked about the attention generated by his footage, Neil Hewitt said: "I don´t know what to think, I just wanted to get it on the camera. It is all quite amusing, I like the fact that it´s spreading around." As for the possible explanation that it could have been Chinese lanterns, he said: "I tried thinking of this, but the way they moved in relation to each other did not tally with this. I think these things were very big and far away rather than near, and if you look at the intensity of the light it is too bright to be something with a candle in it. I have gone through theories, but I can´t find anything that matches up, so it could be some phenomenon we just don´t know about."<
>The truth could actually be out there it seems after days of high-profile speculation surrounding an alien visit. The Scunthorpe Telegraph catapulted North Lincolnshire into the media spotlight after mysterious balls of light and strange tints were spotted in the skies. The exclusive story, snapped up and linked with an incident in Conisholme a day later, made the front page of the Sun newspaper and became a hit taking topic on ITN, BBC Radio Four´s Today programme and CNN. But after all the furore, a family have revealed that they let off some Chinese lanterns in memory of a family member - an explanation for the mass sightings of orange lights throughout the festive period and new year. Christine Harriman (55) from Mary Street, Scunthorpe left her explanation on www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk saying: "Chinese lanterns are what was probably seen. We lit some Christmas day about 5ish as you light them and let the hot air raise them into the sky. Traditionally you make a wish, but we did them for our departed family members and our dog, which was a lovely way to remember them." Another reader believes he caught the phenomenon on video and are available to see here.
>As the mystery surrounding the UFO in Lincolnshire that destroyed a wind turbine started to grip the nation and leave alien watchers as excited as Celebrity Big Brother´s Verne Troyer watching Lucy Pinder getting ready for bed, UFO conspiracy theorists were disappointed as the mysterious objects floating in the Tilehurst sky have been identified as fire lanterns. What a shame as there is nothing more exciting than an unexplained UFO sighting, but I did have to laugh as witnesses around the New Year´s Eve celebrations admitted seeing bright lights in the sky. I very often see lots of bright lights as the clock strikes midnight. Witnesses also stated the lights were in groups of three and I have learnt that when confronted by three pints, always select the middle one to avoid a very identifiable flying object crashing to the floor.<
>A man who claimed to have spotted a UFO in WGC is appealing for witnesses to come forward. Glyn Mason had been walking his dog Dilly along Cole Green Lane at 6.15pm last Wednesday, when he saw three orange globes in the night sky. Mr Mason, who has never seen a UFO before, told the WHT the objects moved slowly and silently in the direction of Woodhall Parade, before disappearing. The 64-year-old, of Cole Green Lane, said the lights appeared at "about twice the height of the Shredded Wheat building" (in Broadwater Road). "I have never seen anything like it before," he said. "Everything just went silent." He added: "It wasn´t a frightening experience. I felt chuffed that I had seen it." The tee-total former bricklayer said the lights had also been witnessed by a young man and a couple who were in Cole Green Lane at the time, and urged them to contact the WHT. He said: "(When I approached the young man) he said ´you aren´t going to mug me are you? I said no, look up at the sky." + Did you see the orange lights in the night sky over Cole Green Lane on January 7? Call the newsdesk on 01707 384180 <
Mother and daughter´s ´serene´ UFO sightings - so kam es vom ´The Cornishman´ ( http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/hom... ) hierzu:
>A woman from Polruan spotted a UFO hovering over Fowey around the same time as other myserious sightings were made across the country. The national newspapers were full of reports over the new year of strange lights seen over Conisholme in Lincolnshire as "orangey-yellow spheres". At 5.45pm on Christmas Day, Polruan fitness instructor, yoga teacher and crystal healer, Tessa Skola, and her mother, Doreen, were at Tessa´s cottage in West Street. Tessa saw through the kitchen window what she first thought were the bright head lamps of a car going along the Esplande in Fowey, near the Whitehouse ferry slip. "It had been so quiet," said Tessa. "There hadn´t been a sound all day. There was an incredible stillness in the air. As I watched, the lights started to become larger and brighter - really dazzlingly bright - as one light moved on top of the other, forming a bell-shaped object, the size of a largish house, with what looked like a thin, shiny metal base. Very slowly it began to glide along, travelling in the direction of Readymoney Cove, first below the Esplande and above the Rope Walk, before it entered the dark area where there are no houses and no road. After about four minutes, it began to wobble a bit, before it changed direction and began to cross the harbour to Polruan. Mother and I went out on to my little balcony and saw it passing over the old chapel in West Street before it disappeared from view, travelling in the direction of St Saviour´s Hill. There was no sound; just complete stillness and the whole thing from my first sighting lasted about five minutes. Three days later at 10pm on Sunday, December 28 we saw it again. This time it was mother who saw it first. There were the same two bright lights, one on top of the other, with the same small gap in-between, and it seemed to be somewhere above Squires Field. This time, however, it was only about one minute before the two lights separated at great speed. I thought it was going to start moving but suddenly the lights just disappeared, as if someone had thrown a switch, and it was completely dark once more. Again, there was no sound, just complete silence." Although Doreen had never seen a UFO before, it was Tessa´s fourth sighting. They said the incidents were "not in the slightest bit frightening" and both used the words "magical", "serene" and "beautiful" to describe their experience. Added Tessa: "The size of it completely rules out a helium balloon or a floating lantern. And being completely silent means it could not have been any kind of aircraft. It´s all a complete mystery. Neither of us could believe what we had seen. It made a deep impression on us and we couldn´t stop talking about it afterwards." Tessa has reported both sightings to the www.ufowatch.com website.< ´Tell us about your UFO sightings´ kam es vom ´Cumnock Chronicle´ ( http://www.cumnockchronicle.com/art... ) und hier lesen wir: >Strange glowing lights in the sky have led to reports of a UFO sighting in Cumnock. A web forum, reporting on UFO sightings across Scotland, featured a sighting from someone in the town saying they had seen three lights red trimmed with white up in the sky. Now, the Chronicle is asking whether you have a UFO story to tell. Anyone who has a sighting to share can contact the newsteam on 01290 421633.<
>As stories about "UFO mysteries" hit the national headlines, could Wigan have recently received an alien visitation of its own? These images of slow-moving bright lights were captured on the mobile phone camera of Shaun Campbell as he and fiancée Samantha Cross watched from their Orrell flat. The unidentified craft {´Maschine´ ist gut, wenn man die Skylanterns kennt!} were seen over the skies of Billinge and Up Holland in the early hours of Boxing Day morning as the couple returned home from a Christmas party. After filming the bizarre sight, Shaun thought little more of it until he saw news stories last week of very similar happenings in other parts of the country. In Scotland a man said he saw three large glowing shapes moving slowly across the sky, while in Louth, Lincolnshire, further lights were seen which have since been linked to the unexplained damage inflicted on a wind turbine nearby. Shaun, a 23-year-old from Church Drive, said: "When I heard about those incidents they sounded very similar to the ones we experienced. I am pretty sceptical about UFOs and all that stuff but I can´t offer a more rational explanation for what we saw. They certainly weren´t aeroplanes or helicopters. We had been visiting family on Christmas Day, had just got home at about 1am and were getting stuff out of the car and taking it into the flat when I saw something in the sky. It was an orange ball in the sky, like a ball of flames pulsing. Samantha and I watched it move from the direction of Billinge towards Up Holland before seeing another one rising up from Billinge. Two more followed exactly the same path. I rang my mum at her home in Wigan Road and she said she could just see the last one too. I was just intrigued by it all but Samantha was quite scared. We were watching it all for about 15 minutes and I got it on my mobile camera." The Wigan Evening Post´s resident ufologist, Jon Peake, said: "Though the video shows very little, whatever the object is - it definitely falls into the category of Unidentified Flying Object. If that means it is a floating Chinese Lantern, a firework or something else, it is still unidentified and this man was right to bring it to our attention. Some people, when they hear ´UFO´ automatically assume you are talking about an alien spaceship - but UFO simply means it is not a conventional flying machine. It is simply unidentifiable and in the sky." Have you seenn anything weird in the skies above Wigan? Let us know.<
Und dann ein anderer Typ von UFO-Stimulus, ein Sundog mal wieder ´UFO snapped over city - but is there a simple explanation?´ schrieben die ´Norwich Evening News´ ( http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/cont... ):
>Could this be evidence of alien life or is there a simpler explanation? The strange, glowing white and yellow ball was captured on camera by city cab driver Daniel Billman as he was stuck in traffic in Earlham. He was intrigued to see a short rainbow section in the sky, but on photographing it on his mobile phone the resulting images revealed a bright, shining orb. Mr Billman, 32, from Hethersett, said: "It was a nice day with a few clouds around and as I was looking up to the sky I noticed what looked like a short rainbow a few metres long just sitting up in the sky. I removed my glasses to take another look and it was still there. I have never seen anything like it before so I captured a photo with my mobile phone´s camera. The photo shows a bright glowing object which wasn´t visible with my naked eyes. It wasn´t until I looked at the picture that I saw the glowing white object behind it." Last week, the Evening News reported how UFOs were being blamed for badly damaging a wind turbine in Lincolnshire after similar objects were spotted in the skies hours earlier. And experts say a number of people have reported orange lights or balls over Norfolk and Suffolk. But John Sayer, treasurer of Norfolk UFO Society, said the images, which were captured last summer, had a simple explanation. He said: "The photographs are not of what have been reported as orangey lights or balls, which are quite different in appearance. These shots are actually of the effect of sunlight being refracted through cloud or ice crystals."<
>An unusual rotating ice circle, normally found in the cooler rivers of Scandinavia or North America, has formed in the UK waterways. The cause of the rare phenomenon is unclear, with very little scientific evidence available to explain the formation of the discs. UFO-enthusiasts claim that, like crop circles, the perfect discs are created by visiting aliens, but scientists believe the extreme cold weather combined with an unusual current is the more likely reason. The 10ft disc was seen by a rambler on the River Otter in Devon, who estimated that it was spinning through 360 degrees every four minutes. The Meteorological Office said today that they could not explain why the ice circle appeared last week. "We´re kind of a bit stumped to be honest," a spokesman said. "Our best guess, and it is a guess, would be that it was formed by some kind of a circular eddy set up in the river. We have not seen anything like this before and we´ve no idea why they seem to be more common in Scandinavia." The disc was spotted on January 7 as temperatures in southern England reached as low as minus 10C. The freeze caused unusual behaviour amongst British wildlife, which is ill prepared for such conditions. The rare cold snap may also have caused the ice formation, which has been recently recorded and investigated in the US and Sweden. Mystery has surrounded the discs since they were first described as long ago as the nineteenth century. A drawing of an ice circle was published in the Scientific American in 1895. Illustrated London News also catalogued one that formed near Toronto in 1930 under the headline "Jack Frost describes a circle". The lack of a clear explanation from the scientific community allowed conspiracy theorists to add the ice circles to the annals of "unexplained phenomena" until 1993 when MIT attempted to end the debate. Ice circles began to form on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which runs through the MIT campus, prompting scientists at the university to study their formation. David Ricks, an ocean engineering graduate, helped systematically rule out effluent from submerged pipes, down draughts from helicopters, alien activity, bubbles from decomposition and underwater springs. He concluded that eddies from the Harvard bridge caused parts of the sheet ice to break away and the movement of the ice created circular holes which were filled by further ice formation. Other theories suggest that slow moving rivers can create eddies which spin the ice until it takes on a circular shape. Photographs of the phenomenon emerged from Russia recently, and it appears that the discs are quite common in Norway as well as Sweden, where they have been recorded on the River Ljusnan measuring up to 200m wide, as well as on the River Pite and on Lake Hotagssjon.<
´Photographing light angels or UFOs?´ hieß es beim ´Telegraph´ ( http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/kate_d...
>Following last week´s uproar over the sighting of an octopus-shaped UFO shortly before a wind turbine was destroyed in Lincolnshire, I wondered if anyone else had spotted UFOs in south London? I haven´t heard tell of any destruction by this lot yet but judging by a series of photos I took last week, it´s all over, the aliens have invaded. Then again, I suppose these might be angels. Or a forest? In fact I took these pictures in the car (don´t worry this isn´t another tale about my driving, I was a passenger). By resting the camera on the dashboard and using a very slow shutter speed, I could use the car´s movement to capture changing patterns of light. Regular readers will know that I quite like to experiment every now and then. This was one of the most random of my recent experiements as I had no control over so much of the image - what lights were coming up on the road ahead, how bumpy the road was, whether or not any other cars would drive into the picture etc. So I can´t claim any great artistry but I was quite pleased with the results. The pictures seemed to be most interesting when I included as much colour as possible. I also played around with various exposures and settled on about 0.5 seconds as the optimal on that day. That would, of course, depend on how much light there was on any given evening and on any stretch of road so I would definitely try several before deciding how to set the camera up. So they may not be real but at least I can safely say that my UFOs are more beautiful than any of these sightings.<
´Are you covered against a UFO strike?´ fragte u.a. der ´News Guardian´ ( http://www.newsguardian.co.uk/lates... ), um dies auszuführen:
>Following speculation that a UFO crashed into a Lincolnshire wind turbine, would you be covered if one crashed into your house? Julie Carter, of specialist insurance broker Adrian Flux, said that when the company´s Household division was set up ten years ago, many insurance companies would be sniffy about meeting bizarre claims, and ´Act of Alien´ would be classed alongside ´Act of God´. "Claims for freak household disasters are nothing new," she said. "But if something like this happens to a householder, too often they fear the response from an insurer. They worry that it will be up to the policyholder to prove that a little green man was responsible." However, things have improved in recent years, and Flux Household has been leading the way in flexible insurance that caters for a wider range of risks. So out of curiosity last week, Flux rang round various insurance companies to see if they would cover policyholders on some strange scenarios. What if a meteorite was to strike my house? - No problem, they said. It would be covered. How about a stampede of wildebeest on the run from a local safari park? - Covered. What if a vindictive ex-husband bulldozes my home to the ground? - Yes, that too. And a UFO? - Yes, of course. "If you are going to modify your house, you need to tell your insurer what you´ve done. And if that includes putting a flying saucer landing pad on the roof, you need to be sure it can bear the weight," said Ms Carter. "So fears about household insurance not covering the improbable are now misplaced."<
