...war heute die Headline der ´Richmond Times-Dispatch´ ( http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/... ) hinzüglich unser gestrigen Geschichte. Jetzt erfahren wir weiteres aus Virginia dazu:

>Described as resembling everything from a glowing bat to a huge firefly, a strange light has bewildered Fan District residents. The light -- a dot in the sky, not a beam -- seemed to dance and dart above the 2100 block of Floyd Avenue, and an area just to the south, on Sunday from at least 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The object, which would brighten and dim, was visible from several blocks away. People gathered on sidewalks, pointed to the sky and shot pictures and videos. Some reported seeing the light Saturday night, too.

"This is really bizarre," said Matt French, 26, as he watched the light Sunday night during dog-walking duties. He said he found the light to be "not threatening -- strange, certainly." Some witnesses were dumbfounded. Others reacted with good humor. "It´s not scary. It´s a friendly light," said Anne Sanguinetti, also 26. A Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter also watched the light. The distance was tough to judge, but the object appeared to be a few hundred feet or yards up, below airplane level. The planet Jupiter and the moon, both behaving themselves, beamed brightly near the light. Various observers said the object looked like a phosphorescent bat, a drunken Superman, a giant firefly, a science-class project and a kite bearing LED lights.

For the most part, the light moved about in a small part of the sky -- an area perhaps the size of a volleyball held at arm´s length. Then it would move to another spot. The light show sounds like the work of a prankster, said Geoff Chester, an astronomer and public relations officer with the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington. "UFOs are fairly easy to make," said Chester, who admitted creating a few balloonlike ones when he was a college student. Chester said he had heard no reports of a widely spotted UFO over the weekend. Richmond police said they received no calls. Chester considered the illuminated-kite idea credible: "People do all sorts of things to do hoaxes."
